Unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the F12berlinetta succeeded the 599 GTB Fiorano as Ferrari’s new front-engine V-12 flagship. A true successor to the grand touring berlinettas of the 1950s and ’60s, the F12berlinetta fused stunning design with searing performance, establishing itself as one of the most formidable GT platforms of the modern era.
At its core is a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V-12 engine producing 730 horsepower, enabling 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds and a top speed in excess of 211 mph. Helping achieve this level of performance is a dry weight of only 3,362 pounds, thanks to Ferrari’s use of lightweight construction and innovative aerodynamic solutions. Among them is the “Aero Bridge,” which channels air over the hood and along the sides of the car to increase downforce, while an active brake-cooling system directs air toward the brakes only when needed, optimizing both performance and efficiency. Only 4,657 examples were produced, according to Ferrari historian Marcel Massini.
This 2014 Ferrari F12berlinetta was sold new through Ferrari of Newport Beach and has remained in California ever since, according to a Carfax report on file. Finished in Argento Nürburgring Metallic with a black interior, the rare and understated shade of silver suits the F12’s elegant proportions beautifully. Yellow brake calipers, optional Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, and forged 20-inch wheels enhance the exterior presentation.
The cabin features rich black leather including on the headliner and rear luggage shelf, while fully electric Daytona-style seats feature light gray contrast stitching and embroidered logos on the headrests. The desirable carbon fiber steering wheel option fronts a yellow-faced tachometer that echoes the brake calipers on the exterior. Additional carbon fiber accents throughout the cockpit contribute to the performance-focused aesthetic. This F12 also features Ferrari’s high-power audio system with satellite radio, ideal for the long-distance road trips this consummate grand tourer excels at. The car’s original owner also specified the useful front suspension lift system, which provides peace of mind when maneuvering around tricky parking areas.
The F12berlinetta is a rare blend of tradition and innovation, offering the comfort and refinement expected of a grand tourer with the raw power and immediacy of an uncompromising supercar. As one of the final naturally aspirated, non-hybrid V-12 Ferraris ever made, this beautifully specified example represents a compelling opportunity for the discerning collector or enthusiast seeking a modern classic with timeless appeal.
